Dotted manner

Scope note

Printmaking process for making relief engravings on metal, called dotted prints, using dots from punches of various shapes and sometimes including burin lines; common in the second half of the 15th century. For later, intaglio processes employing directly engraved flicks or dots for tonal areas, use "stipple engraving." OCA
