Scope note

Having a wavelike outline of flowing compound curves; used, for example, with reference to architectural features such as arches, moldings, and tracery. For furniture pieces, the fronts of which have alternating concave and convex surfaces, use "serpentine (shape)." For features consisting of or bounded by curved lines in general, use "curvilinear."
