English copper-alloy jeton, sterling head type, Fox class 15 (c.1319-1330s/1340s). Obv. Sterling bust, border of pellets. Rev. Cross with quatrefoil ends, REDO (‘I render’ or ‘pay’?) in angles, border of pierced quatrefoils (similar to two specimens illustrated in M. Mitchiner, Jetons, Medalets & Tokens. Vol. 1: The Medieval Period and Nuremberg (London, 1988), nos 108 (same reverse die) and 109. Mitchiner reads the letters on this unusual reverse as AMOR), 0.83g.

English medieval jeton, c.1280, groat-sized piece with facing mitred bust, produced from an official face punch for groats of Edward I (unpublished), copper alloy, 25mm, 3.46g. Found in Ely, 3 October 2001. This is a significant discovery, marking the earliest phase of jeton production in England. The use of the groat punch for jetons is previously unrecorded.
