Garnitures

Scope note

Sets of armor, consisting of a field armor plus reinforcing and alternative pieces which could either be integrated with or substituted for the regular pieces in the basic set, thus converting it into various forms for use in warfare or tournaments. They were invariably made for important persons according to a precise design for specific types of events. TARA
