Cult objects

Scope note

Objects that are venerated within a particular system of worship; for those that are, or contain, images, use "cult images." Use especially with regard to extinct cultures and religions; for objects venerated in still-living religions, prefer "religious objects," and if those objects retain their sacredness in their present context, use "sacred objects."
