Fillets (motifs)

Scope note

Impressed lines, either gilt or blind, created in leather or other semi-hard surface materials by finishing tools also called fillets; most commonly used in bookbinding. For similarly shallow recessed moldings in other plane surfaces, use "sunk fillets."
