Use for various devices, typically hooks, notches, or serrated blade edges, designed to catch or damage an opponent's blade in swordplay, typically found on daggers, swords, and bucklers. Also sometimes used for particular 16th-century left-hand daggers having one or both edges cut into a series of sawlike teeth for the same purpose.
