Scope note

Plate armor to protect the elbow joints, attached by screws between the upper and lower cannons of the right and left vambraces; originally a single inarticulated curved plate in the 14th century, they evolved into a set of mobile lames loosely riveted together, remaining in use until the mid-17th century.
