Lard lamps

Scope note

Lamps that burn lard or lard oil, employing some method to deliver the semi-solid fuel to the wick, either heat to liquify it so that it will flow, or pressure or gravity devices to force it to the wick; especially those of tinned sheet iron, painted or plain, dating to the 1840s and 1850s.
