Armadios

Scope note

Italian cupboards, originally, cassoni with doors instead of a lid, but later (16th century) developing into two-tiered pieces similar to English press cupboards. Generally having massive architectural decoration, including pilasters supporting a monumental cornice; frequently made for sacristies.
