Hogscraper candlesticks

Scope note

Candlesticks usually of sheet iron on a convex disc base with a straight tubular stem bearing a round drip catcher at the top. A slot in the side of the stem accommodates a finger grip for operating the candle adjuster and ejector, and a suspension hook sometimes extends from the drip catcher. The name is believed to be derived from a resemblance to the device used to scrape the bristles from butchered hogs.
