Miners' lamps

Scope note

Lamps designed for use in mines; especially cast iron lamps often with a circular lidded font containing a single wick channel or tube and a D-shaped bail on pivots terminating in a spike or shallow pans with wick channels or supports and half bails terminating in hooks or spikes; also coffeepot-shaped spout lamps of tinned sheet iron worn on miners' caps.
