Argand lamps

Scope note

Lamps with a burner that has a cylindrical wick sandwiched between two metal tubes that admit a current of air to the inside of the flame and a chimney to enclose the flame and direct air to the outside of it; use especially for such lamps with a separate fuel reservoir from which fuel is fed to the font and burner on the bird-fountain principle.
