Vase carpets

Scope note

High quality Kirman carpets characterized by a heavily ornamented field of large and small flowers with curving, intertwining stems and sometimes having patterns including vases. Warps are cotton and three shots of weft pass between each row of knots, the first and third of which are wool, the second cotton or silk.
