Admiral carpets

Scope note

Early Spanish carpets with three major types of ornamentation derived from Persian or Anatolian rugs, an octagonal-hexagonal design, stepped lozenges design, and star and lozenge design; they are often embellished with coats of arms, and incorporate non-Islamic motifs such as animal or human figures.
