Aiguillettes (cords)

Scope note

Use for cords, usually braided, ending in aglets, worn looped under the arm and sometimes across the breast on military uniforms; worn especially by aides-de-camp, but also by other officers. Distinguished from "fourragères," which are braided cords worn as an honorary military decoration.
