Mitten gauntlets

Scope note

Gauntlets consisting of a tubular plate cuff, a single plate or several articulated lames covering the back of the hand, and lames covering the fingers, with only the thumb being allowed independent movement. They were popular in German-dominated Europe from the 15th into the mid-16th century.
