Stilts (supporting equipment)

Scope note

Long poles, usually in pairs with a foot rest, one for each foot per pole, enabling users to walk with their feet above the ground. Includes those used recreationally, as a means of reaching high things or crossing water, and as part of costume, as in African stilt masquerades.
