Daggers widely used by German and Swiss landsknechts during the 16th century, having a hilt, often of steel, with a grip which flares at the top and a guard with a shell or side ring and two quillons, either straight or curving towards the blade. They were furnished with a sheath, typically made of metal and decorated with raised bands.
