Scope note

African bearing swords with long iron blades, symbolizing the power of the rulers of BenĂ­n; one has traditionally been carried on public occasions by a swordbearer accompanying the oba or sometimes other certain designated chiefs. Historically ithey were also used as executioner's swords.
