Containers in which aromatic pastilles may be burned or liquid perfumes evaporated. Often in the form of a covered vase with holes on the shoulder or cover, or with pierced or openwork decoration. Sometimes made in the form of a tripod, especially an athenienne. For other containers of varying form used to hold burning incense for the purpose of scenting a space, use "incense burners." For covered vaselike containers intended primarily for liquid pot-pourri, use "pot-pourri vases."
