Butter coolers

Scope note

Cylindrical or oval covered vessels designed to serve chilled butter at the table; often with a drainer intended to contain the butter as it is cooled in iced water. Also includes similar vessels made without a drainer but with perforations on the sides and bottom for ventilation. Use "butter dishes" for other dishes intended to hold and serve butter at the table.
