Scope note

Harp zithers of western central Africa, made of a stalk of raffia palm from the surface of which from three to five strings are detached and supported above the string bearer by a central, vertical, notched bridge; from one to six gourd resonators are attached to the back of the string bearer. They are played by plucking.
