Khaen

Scope note

Motuh organs of Laos and Thailand, consisting of a set of bamboo pipes grouped in two rows and graduated from longest to shortest, held together by a windchest they pierce through. The reeds of copper or silver are mounted in the pipe walls within the windchest, and the fingerholes are cut in the pipes within fingers' reach above the windchest.
