Saxhorns

Scope note

Valve bugles introduced by Adolphe Sax of Paris in 1843 and patented by him in 1845, having a moderately conical bore and medium-sized bell; made in nine different sizes from sopranino to contrabass, they have retained their popularity as band instruments to the present day.
