Curraghs

Scope note

Use for vessels constructed of skin, or later of tarred canvas, over a substantial wooden frame and having a distinctive narrow shape, with the bottom rising forward and a definite knuckle or break in the sheer; sometimes as large as 10m long, built in Ireland, particularly on the west coast.
