Yawls (sailing vessels)

Scope note

Two-masted, fore-and-aft-rigged vessels in which the foremast is larger than the mizzen mast and is set abaft the rudder post; for similar fore-and-aft-rigged vessels, but with the smaller, mizzen, mast set forward of the rudder post, use "ketches (fore-and-aft-rigged vessels)."
