Menhaden steamers

Scope note

Screw steamboats used in the menhaden fishery to carry fishermen, seiners, and driveboats to fishing grounds, and to transport the catch to fish factories; usually 90 to 150 feet long with the forward mast fitted with a crane for loading catch, and cranes aft for hoisting and lowering seiners and driveboats.
