Two-handled cup/Loving cup. Unknown, probably Nottingham factory. Incised on one side with the inscription: 'Thomas Smeeton &/Mary His Wife 1739', on the other, with two sprays of flowers resembling potentilla, on a wide band between two borders of geometrical pattern. Stoneware possibly covered with a ferruginous wash, incised, and salt-glazed, height, whole, 21.0 cm, diameter, mouth, 21.7 cm, width, whole, 29.5 cm, dated 1739. English.
