An image of Bowl. Islamic pottery. Silhouette ware. Unknown potter, Iran. Shape: irregular carinated bowl with conical lower body and cylindrical neck with an everted rim. Sits on a foot ring. Interior: on the body four black palmettes toped with finials are spaced at regular intervals, with an additional, smaller version at the centre of the base. Glaze pools in the base. Exterior: On the neck a wide band of black is incised with script with fleurs de lys at regular intervals. Glaze runs terminates on the foot ring, where coverage is uneven. Fritware, wheel thrown, partially coated in a black slip, carved under a transparent, crazed turquoise glaze. Height, whole, 12 cm, width, whole, 19.7 cm, diameter, base, 8.2 cm, weight 587 g, circa 1100-circa 1199. Seljuk.
