Textiles. Spot motif sampler. Linen embroidered with polychrome silks in pattern darning and running stitch. One edge has a selvedge the others are either damaged or incomplete. The sampler is mounted on a linen backing. Length, max, 37 cm, width, max, 30 cm, circa 1401 -1501. Mamluk. Notes: The patterns found on this sampler are very close to those found on fragments of clothing and household linen of a similar date.
