Scandinavian fruit wood and silver spoon

An image of Cutlery/Spoon/Flatware. Unknown silversmith and carver. The wood bowl on a silver handle square in cross section and inscribed. The wood bowl is fig-shaped on a short stem. The silver handle is square in cross section and broadens slightly towards the terminal, which has a small ball finial. The bowl of the spoon is varnished and may once have been painted. The front of the handle is inscribed 'Nyttjad under en Elfra årig fångenskaps tid' and initialled 'S'. The seam on the silver handle was soldered and the finial soldered to it. Fruit wood and silver, length, overall, 17 cm, circa 1650- circa 1800. Production Note: the handle may be later than the bowl of the spoon. Scandinavian. North European.
