  • Illuminated Manuscript. Leaf from the Matricola of the Bolognese Guild of the Cordwainers. Giacomo di Nascimbene, Nicolò di (Italian). Parchment, gold, 352 x 243 mm (245 x 155 mm), 33 long lines, ruled in plummet, 1378. Production Place: Bologna, Italy. CONTENTS: Opening leaf of the list of members of the Guild of Cordwainers who lived in the quartiere of the Ravenna gate. DECORATION: Framed miniature showing St Petronius holding a model of the city of Bologna, the arms of Bologna prominent on his morse, with a three-sided bar and acanthus border including gold balls and a shield with the arms of the Cordwainers, a shoemaker’s knife, a shoe and a sandal.
