Illuminated manuscript. Cutting. Leaf from a Dogeâs Commission. Huntington Master. Parchment, 222 x 153mm, pasted on a nineteenth-century paper mount, verso not visible, circa 1575-circa 1599. Production Place: Italy, Venice. DECORATION: Full-page miniature with a kneeling man being presented to the Virgin and Child by St Paul, with God the Father above, and the infant John the Baptist below, set within a frame of architectural ornament in gold with caryatids and winged figures, in the lower border, the arms of the Gradenigo family (silver stairs on a red ground) with motto Sacrificate sacrificium iustitiae et sperate in domino (Ps 4:6).
