English Delftware. Plate. Unidentified Bristol or London pottery. Painted in blue with two ladies strolling in a landscape. Circular with a wide sloping rim, shallow curved sides and flat centre, standing on a footrim, (Archer's Shape). The front is decorated with two ladies wearing hats and wide skirts strolling in a landscape with trees and on the right a house and a cottage. Overhead there are schematic clouds and birds. There are three peg marks on the back of the rim. Buff earthenware, press-moulded, tin-glazed bluish-white and painted and sponged in blue. Height, whole, 2.6 cm, diameter, whole, 22.4 cm, circa 1750-1760. Rococo. Sir Ivor and Lady Batchelor Bequest through The Art Fund.
