An image of Ecuelle. Broth bowl and cover. Rey, Georges, silversmith, France, Chambéry. The shallow bowl with flat bottom has two cast shaped-triangular lug handles, which are decorated with a shell, flower, scrolls and basketwork. The domed cover is embossed and chased with borders of scrolling foliage and flowers on a matted ground. The flattened knop is set with a medallion of the head of a woman. The bowl and cover are raised. The handles are cast and soldered to the bowl. The decoration is embossed and/or chased. Silver, height, to top of knop, 11.1 cm, width, across handles, 29.5 cm, diameter, bowl, 17.2 cm, weight, whole, 885 g, circa 1726-1760. Louis XV. Rococo.
