Head of a woman in profile
Draughtsman: Downman, John (Follower of)
Height: 220 mm
Width: 144 mm
Relative size of this object is displayed using code inspired by Good Form and Spectacle's work on the British Museum's Waddeson Bequest website and their dimension drawer. They chose a tennis ball to represent a universally sized object, from which you could envisage the size of an object.
Method of acquisition: Given (1997) by Drummond, William
The method of applying red chalk to the verso of the drawing to suggest the blush of the cheek was one commonly used by Downman, although this drawing is clearly later in date.
