They / break harsh lines _ they point out paths over mountains, or / to castles _ & in drawing with black & white, they are useful / in destinguishing roads from rivers. / Again, they are useful in inlivening(underlined) a scene. Trees, & / lawns, & water are all beautiful: but they are immovea- / ble objects. When figures are introduced, they add life(underlined), and animation(underlined).
