Whilst the figurative, floral and bird motifs are all characteristic of Skyros embroidery, the lattice is unusual although similar patterns are found on cushion borders usually attributed to the Northern Sporades. The leaf lattice also bears some resemblance to the style and arrangement of Naxos embroidery and it has been suggested that such patterns were brought to the Northern islands from the Cyclades, perhaps, through intermarriage, and were incorporated into the local repertoire as a subsidiary pattern.
