Description

Band sampler, bleached linen, embroidered with polychrome silks and silver metal thread (for initials only) in cross, double running, interlaced and needle lace filling, and double back stitches. The sampler comprises 23 alternating narrow and wide horizontal bands; the twelfth band is filled with detached motifs including birds, 'boxers', frogs, rabbits and stags. The sampler also carries the inscription 'AP'.
