Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross and double running stitch. The edges are turned under and hem stitched. The upper part of the sampler comprises horizontal bands of two alphabets, a panel inscribed 'ELIZABETH BRENT 1666' and a wide band containing floral and figurative detached motifs. The lower part is covered in its entirety by horizontal bands of repeat border patterns
