Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, double running, satin, filling, trellis and detached buttonhole stitch. There is a selvedge at the top; the other edges are turned under and hem stitched. The sampler comprises 13 horizontal bands of repeat border patterns, an alphabet, the date '1668' and the inscription 'IUDETH PAYNE'.
