Linen band sampler embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, crossed-back, double running, eye, and trellis stitch with some speckling. All four edges are hemmed. The sampler is predominantly made up of horizontal repeat floral border patterns. At the top there is an alphabet, the initials ' e H' and the date 'APRIL THe 30 1669' with, beneath it, three rectangles of all-over designs. The first floral band is of an unusual flowing border pattern followed by seven bands of conventional stylized patterns.
