Description

Band sampler, linen embroidered with linen thread and polychrome silks in cross, chain, buttonhole, bullion, double hem, satin and overcast stitch. The sampler comprises 24 horizontal bands. The first 10 are worked with repeat border patterns; band 11 to 13 contain an alphabet, the name 'Mary Young' and the date '1673'; band 22 also has an alphabet while band 23 repeats the date.
