Maker: Tucker, Love
Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silk and linen threads in chain, cross, double hem, eyelet hole, double running and satin stitch. The sampler comprises 23 horizontal bands; the first seven from the top are filled with an alphabet, the name " LOVe TUCKerR", the date '1688' and the inscription ' O THAT MY/ WAYez Were diRected/ To KeeP THY statutes/ LOVe TUCKer WR/OUGHT THIS IN the/YEAR 1688 IT eH MM'. The remainder of the bands are filled with more repeat border patterns.
