Description

Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, rococo and satin stitch. The sampler comprises 13 horizontal bands which include repeat border patterns, hearts and sprigs, an all-over design, a grape vine with a bee, birds, a man carrying a staff, a dog, cherries, two flower baskets and the inscription ' IEANE WAS BorNe the 16/DAY OF APril 1675/ D the 30 DAY APril 1700'.
