Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, eyelet hole and satin stitches. The sampler comprises 31 horizontal bands; the top 24 contain alphabets, bands 25 to 28 the inscription 'ELIZABETH BOWEN IS MY NAME / AT LEST THEN EAIGHT YEARS O / VLD I MADE THE SAME IN THE YE / AR 1707', band 29 a set of initials, band 30 has flowering plants and birds worked and the bottom band contains part of an alphabet. between bands 24 and 25 runs a selvedge which over sews a seam.
