The sampler comprises 20 horizontal bands which include repeat border patterns, alphabets and the inscriptions ' Elizabeth Hopkins 1711' and 'WHeN I WAS YOUNg I LIttLe Thought That Wit M/ ust Be So Dearly Bought But Now Experieance TeLs/ Me How If I WOULD Thrive Th t I Must Bow A/ ND BeND Vnto Anothers Will That I Might Learn Both / Art And SkiLL To Get My LIVINg With My HANDS / So That I Might Be Free From BONds That Mine / Own Dame Then I might Be AND Freed From ALL Such / Slaverie 123456789X XI XII EH WH AH'.
