Description

Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, eyelet hole and rococo stitch. The sampler comprises 16 horizontal bands which include alphabets, numerals, repeat border patterns, strawberries, crowns, birds and the inscription 'See how the lilies flourish white/and fair see how the ravens fed/from heaven then neer distr/ust thy god for cloth and bread/whilst lilies flourish and the rave/ns fed. EW October the 21 1755/Elizabeth Weight in the 12th year of her age 1755'.
