Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks and linen thread in cross, double running, satin and double hem stitch. There is some cutwork with hollie point and needle lace stitches. There is a selvedge at the top and bottom; the sides are turned under and stitched. The sampler is divided into horizontal bands of repeat border patterns, containing an alphabet and the name ' Mary Crawford', another alphabet and the date ' Feb 4 1771', the former worked in silk the latter in linen. There is also one band of detached motifs.
